Coboconk-Canadas-Smallest-Jail[1]
Coboconk is located on Ontario Highway 35 and has a population of about 800.  It has long promoted itself as "the home of Canada's smallest jail" and while an interesting anecdote, it hardly tells the story.
 
Coboconk is a hub for cottagers and visitors to Balsam Lake Provincial Park and on almost any summer day, one might find people swimming at the bridge in the centre of the village. Local residents and cottagers call it "Coby". CFWSlogo

Coboconk is the highest point of navigable fresh waters in the world.

Balsam Lake (Coboconk) is the Summit of the Trent Severn Waterway, and with a height of 256.3 meters above sea level it is highest point in North America from which you can circumnavigate the world.
 

Cobockonk is home to the Ontario Provincial Police detachment for the northern part of the City of Kawartha Lakes.

Coboconk also has the local highways department and service yard, well equipped fire hall, Coboconk community centre,Coboconk Lions club and numerous other organizations and groups that form the Coboconk community.
