The City of Kawartha Lakes was formed in 2001 through the amalgamation of the former Victoria County. City Hall is in Lindsay Ontario.
The principal towns and villages are Bethany, Burnt River, Bobcaygeon, Cameron, Coboconk, Fenelon Falls, Janetville, Kinmount, Kirkfield, Lindsay, Little Brittan, Norland, Oakwood, Omemee, Pontypool, Rosedale Sebright and Woodville.

Kawartha Lakes is primarily a rural area. The principal industries are agriculture, tourism manufacturing, retail and construction. The area is primarily known as an all season outdoor playground with more than 250 lakes and rivers, scenic vistas, great fishing, skiing, hikeing, snomobiling, kayaking and canoeing.
There are numerous local businesses serving visitors and tourists throughout the Kawartha Lakes region. Whether it is a rental cottage, quaint country inn, campground or trailerpark to meet your accommodation needs or boats and equipment for rent there is lots to choose from.
